Two thousand twelve. Once again we have come to the start of a new year and the plans for progression are higher than ever. 2011 brought some new aspects and audiences to the site. I'm thankful for everyone that supported myself and, of course, I.D. This year will be filled with much more expansion around these pages - some of which, you'll have to wait and see. However, I will reveal the biggest project of the new year. 366 Project - This is by far the most exciting new project for this year. Basically, for those not familiar with the concept, a 366 project is where you take and post a photo every single day of the year. It's usually a 365 project but because 2012 is a leap year, you add the extra day. I'm deciding to embark on this photographic journey because I believe it will force me to be more creative more often and overall improve my photography skills. I will be posting weekly recaps on my site but you can follow the daily progress either on Flickr or Tumblr. Hope everyone's holidays went well and everyone is doing great. Check the home page for a little surprise for the new year! I've said it before and I'll say again, expect the unexpected. Take Care. Welcome to 2011. I'm always striving to improve both myself and the site, so the new year really doesn't signify too much in terms of making a list of resolutions and trying to conquer the world or things of that matter. Nonetheless, there are going to be change occurring on the site from now on. Expanded content, new sets of posts, and much more. Besides the obvious reason of wanting to do more, experiment, and broaden the horizons of I.D - I decided this for a couple of reasons. For one, I want to give all of you (who support and visit the site) more to enjoy and look forward to. Secondly, I wanted to give myself more freedom in what I post. Not that I was necessarily limiting the content before, just that if I expand I want to do it right. With so many blogs out there, I always do my best to craft my own to a respectable and creative level of meaning and quality. Not to mention, also maintaining solely original content and never "re-blogging" or "re-posting." I'd rather create my own art or at least offer my own unique take on it. With that said, I have thought out some new series of posts that you all will be seeing soon on the site. Some sooner than others, and some more often as well. This is also all experimentation, so it's certainly subject to change. Witness the growth. Here are some series to look forward to: Lyrics To Go - They say a photo says a thousand words, but what about the ones that just capture a line or set of lyrics from a song? Short and succinct. These posts will consist of a photo accompanied by a quoted line, a whole verse, or whatever fits the feel. Also - the title is, if you haven't guessed, inspired by the terrific tune by a tribe (called quest). Saturday Morning Cartoons - You may not wake up at the crack of dawn anymore on that first day off school for the week, but that doesn't mean you have to give up those good ol' saturday morning cartoons. Although it may not be in animated, Nickelodeon fashion (the old Nick, it's no comparison nowadays to how it used to be) - this will offer some cartoon drawings courtesy of Imagination Detonation. This will also begin a foray back into cartoons as I know there's been more of an emphasis on the site recently on photo and video content. Here's to hand drawing. I.Debate - One question I get asked sometimes is why I don't allow comments. Well, to be quite honest - I've never been much of a fan of comments that, for the most part, just consist of "Nice" or "Good job." I'd rather just let the post be there and showcase the art. However, I am very much a fan of stimulating and intellectual conversation through the digital dropping of comments. Therefore, the idea arose in my head of speaking (well, writing) on certain controversial topics of choice and having people offer feedback and discuss with each other on that matter. Musical Visuals (Interpretation Edition) - Although the category of 'Musical Visuals' is nothing new, I will now occasionally be taking songs that strike or fascinate me and create my own (unofficial) visuals for them. I think this is an especially interesting area to dive into as songs can be interpreted so many ways and even if their is one agreed meaning, creating a visual treatment for it will still have it's own differing options. The possibilities are nearly endless.
Shutter Clutter - I take A LOT of photos. In fact, the majority of them don't even get posted on the site. I try to select the cream of the crop. My favorites. This series will be a select batch of random flicks that I think are worthy of making their way onto the 'Life Captures' section of the site. Depth of Details - Many little things in life go overlooked. Often though, attention to detail is crucial and makes much more of a difference than you probably think. This series shows you some of those very details that are hiding in plain sight, just waiting to be discovered (and appreciated). Who Knows Besides Maestro - I made all these different new series and categories, but that doesn't, by any means, conclude that they'll be the only things you see (by the way - the conversation videos will certainly still continue). Touching back briefly on what I said before, I want to have the freedom to create and post whatever I want - while still retaining that level of quality and creativity. Like I always say at the start of a new year, expect the unexpected. Just sit back and enjoy. I'm not asking you guys to buy anything, only spare some time to take a (hopefully pleasing) look at the content that I take time out to create. Thank you for reading and I wish you all the best of days during this next cycle of 365 twenty-four hour periods. Here it is, folks. The grand finale. The idea behind this moving picture is of a college kid coming home for the holidays to New York City. The city is great year-round, but has an extra glow during the holiday season. There is truly no place like home for the holidays (regardless of where you consider 'home'). Enjoy the video and your Christmas celebration. Here's a drawing I did that I never threw up on the site, but I always enjoyed.
No Picasso masterpiece, just a drawing for the fun of it. Still HD, just Hand-Drawn this time. Here is Part 1 of the I.D. 2010 Holiday Series. The photos.
Sit by a fireplace, grab some hot chocolate, and take a look at these flicks. (Hint: Some of these photos give you an idea of what to expect for part of the VIDEO coming as part of this series) Greetings during this cold winter season.
This is a short post to announce that every day this week, leading up to Christmas Eve, there will be a new holiday-themed post. Hope everyone is safe but isn't too confined in areas filled with snow. Enjoy the season. |
