Here's a batch of random portraits, aka GoodTraits, that are mostly from the summer (so far, that is), along with some from a little before the greatest season of the year started. Enjoy! The well-known ceiling of the Guggenheim acts as a new installment of the Architectural Aesthetics series!
Josh Dzime-Assison, otherwise known simply as Dizzy, has been a sneaker enthusiast and cultural participant for over 10 years. Over that period, he's also developed his interests and career paths to include styling and brand consulting, keeping up with his love for clothes and sneakers. Along the way, he opened his own physical store in Maryland - which he ran during the day while attending classes at night for his final year of college at the University of Maryland. Before that, however, he had spent his first three years of college at the University of Delaware - where he studied business management. That helped get his mind in the right direction, he said, but his success came from experience as well as trial and error. Dizzy and I met recently on the campus of Columbia University to discuss the information above as well as many other topics. Press play and enjoy. This is the eighth episode of a series called 'Conversations of the Craft.' The idea behind the series is that interviews are too formal. Conversations are a natural flow and progression of words between two or more people. These are conversations with talented individuals discussing their craft and what they love to do. EPISODE 1: THE YOYO KID PT. 1 (ADAM SCHULTZ) EPISODE 2: THE YOYO KID PT. 2 (ADAM SCHULTZ) EPISODE 3: DP (DATNEWCUDI / DP16) EPISODE 4: BOYCE (SUFFOCA) EPISODE 5: LOUIS (UN= BALANCE) EPISODE 6: EBUN (LIVE BREATHE FUTBOL) EPISODE 7: CHANDLER (CHERRY COLLAB) Michael Knapp is a young, 18-year-old photographer hailing from the land only a ferry ride away from Manhattan - Staten Island. Shooting for several years now, he's currently interning with the famous hip hop magazine known as The Source. Shooting everything from shows to portraits of his friends, it's obvious right away that "Snapps" (his photography-themed nickname) has a good eye for capturing the moment. Mike and I met up recently in Battery Park, along with Kobi, to discuss a multitude of points. This included such topics as what he looks for when taking a photo, how his internship at The Source started and how it's been, as well as his thoughts on going to college and much more. Press play and enjoy. This is the seventh episode of a new series entitled 'Flipping The Lens.' The idea behind the series is to take the folks who are usually behind the camera and turn the lens around on them to see what they're like. EPISODE 1: VINNY PICONE EPISODE 2: TONE EPISODE 3: KING TEXAS EPISODE 4: ETIENNE (SCOREMORE) - PART 1 EPISODE 5: ETIENNE (SCOREMORE) - PART 2 EPISODE 6: KELLEN DENGLER EPISODE 7: SQ MUNRO Dom Kennedy came from the Westside With Love and got plenty back. It was his first time headlining a show in New York and although some may have called the crowd all hype, there were many true fans in the building who were singing along to more than a handful of songs. When the rattling drums dropped on 1997 - it was a rap. You can't tell me otherwise. Jakobi McLemore, more commonly just referred to as Kobi, is a 17-year-old young entrepreneur from Houston who currently resides in New Jersey. Kobi runs a brand with no name, literally. He's already built up a steady following for his age and is working on his brand from all angles. Those angles are composed of clothing, music, and after we did this interview he even started his own online magazine. Kobi and I met up recently by Battery Park, along with Mike Knapp (coming soon), to discuss various topics. This included such things as the responses he's gotten to not giving his brand a name, how his first designs were done on 30-day free trials of Photoshop with no experience, where he wants to take all the various aspects of the brand, and more. Make sure you watch until the end to catch Kobi's multitude of interesting shoutouts. This is the seventh episode of a series under Boundless Dreams TV called 'Youngest in Charge.' The series is about a young generation of talented beings who are already on a path filled with making moves along the pursuit of nothing less than greatness. EPISODE 1: GREAT SCOTT EPISODE 2: MIKE WAXX & MIKE CARSON (ILLROOTS) EPISODE 3: MODI (DCtoBC) EPISODE 4: JABARI EPISODE 5: JASON (HERDS OF THE FATHERS) EPISODE 6: PHIL (DERTBAG DESIGN) Casey Veggies came from the opposite coast to open up for his buddy Dom Kennedy. He performed a versatile array of songs including some favorites from his widely-acclaimed Sleeping In Class project (which I reviewed at the beginning of the year) For a 17-year-old (soon to be 18, within the month), Young Veggies gave the performance as smoothly and effortlessly as how the letters flow on his logo tee, while also providing a burst of energy unrivaled by anyone that night. Yes, Dom may have gotten the crowd crazier at points, but whoever knows Dom's style knows that he's pretty non-chalant nearly all the time to a degree (not in a bad way, just is always laid back and chill in more of a "cool-guy" manner). All in all, it's always great to see people my age succeeding. Peas N Carrots is really getting International. The young boy Casey Veggies, who just graduated from high school like I did, comes from LA to perform in New York at the legendary S.O.B.'s with a guest appearance from the other young gun, Nero, doing their banger 30,000. West Coast meets East Coast. Shouts to Josh cooking and hyping up the crowd with frequent "swag" chants. |
