On another note, I'd like to delve into a different photography-related topic. A lot of people believe that if you don't have an extraordinary or professional camera, then you can't take great pictures. They're wrong. You don't need a DSLR to get amazing shots. Though some of you may have thought that I have a camera of that caliber, I actually, in fact, have a Canon Powershot SD880 IS (pictured below). It is pretty much just an advanced point-and-shoot, but it has the ability to work wonders.
New photos are now up under both Vertical Photos & Horizontal Photos. There is also a new banner up! Though I do not post or update the site at too crazy a rate, I'd like to think that I make up for that with real quality posts filled with creative content and meaning. This applies to life in general as well. Look at what you have, adjust and adapt while making the most of it, then create new methods and opportunities.
From cartoon characters to photography and more, I try to venture into different creative realms. Recently, I have gained an increasing interest in the field of videography. This is partly due to wanting to explore new mediums and challenges as well as the inspiration being shot out from all angles by talented individuals like the aforementioned Levi Maestro and 13th Witness, and a photographer/videographer by the name of TONE (who will surely have his own Artist Inspiration post sometime in the future). Credit goes to Tone also for the inspiration to do an artist profile type video like this. I have realized through all of their work (and others) that I want to tell other people's stories, too. On another note, my style should become more of my own as well as the videos progress and pile up. Another reason I wanted to start videos was because while a picture can say a thousand words, I think videos can sometimes provide an extended and deeper message. They have the ability to capture a message or feeling that pictures sometimes cannot (and vice versa - but I already take photos). While I'm still attempting to figure out what direction I wish to head in terms of my video making, right now the videos will serve as the footsteps to what I hope to be a greater path. I came up with the name Boundless Dreams for my videos for two reasons. One, most of the people (or just themes) I explore will have or embody the idea of having no boundaries when you dream. Therefore, you can put no limit on what you can imagine and eventually achieve. Only from this mentality do the truly extraordinary accomplishments come about. Also, my general vision for these videos is that when I shoot them, I need not necessarily take into account the classic approaches to videography, just shoot in unique and different ways. This is also the start of a series called Conversations of the Craft. The name is pretty self- explanatory but there's one bit I wish to dive into for a moment: Personally, I find the word interview too formal. Conversations aren't forced, rather they are a natural flow of words between individuals. The first installment is of a friend from Queens named Adam Schultz who has superb talent when you put a yoyo in his hands. With a tremendous passion for this uncommon craft, who knows what the future may hold for this fifteen-year-old. To catch past videos of his and watch him fly into the future, click here. To see my video that this whole post has been leading up to (excuse any poor quality - there were some problems when converting), watch below as I present The YoYo Kid. |
