Wish I could've cooked up some more creative content for the holiday but unfortunately I was too busy with school this year to do so. Regardless, enjoy the photo above and the holiday itself! A couple weeks ago I released a big project with a thirteen-minute visual by the name of Growing Pains. Now that it's had time to marinate, I figured I'd put up a Stills When The Moving Stops post to show you guys some behind the scenes action from the whole process and also some goodtraits I captured of Dondre while we were on location all over NYC during shooting it. Enjoy and click here to watch the video if you still haven't seen it yet! I always work hard to make sure my videos are of the highest quality, but I've never worked as hard on one single video as I have on this one right here. The video is called Growing Pains and stars my friend and fellow creative, Dondre Green. If some of you are wondering why that name sounds familiar, it may be because earlier this year I did the cover for his musical compilation that bears the same name. In fact, the whole video is based off that project as Dondre and I collaborated to bring you a visual that gives you more of a glimpse into his life as an artist and person. A glimpse into the ups and downs of pursuing one's dreams and success from their passion. I'm not quite sure when exactly the idea was planted, but we started filming in early May and finished around late August. The shooting happened here and there when we would meet up to go to the city to hang out and film. After that came the lengthy editing process. Between there being a lot of footage, adjusting to the start of college, and trying to make the entire video as tight as possible - it took a while to finish. But now here we are. It's finally time to share with you guys what Dondre and I have been working so hard on over these last five months to show you. This is a different side of video for me, I'm usually either doing interviews or musical visuals with no dialogue. This, however, combines the musical visual aspect along with some talking scenes so it was a challenge to figure that out and work it into the video as nice and smoothly as possible. It was also challenging to make the story flow cohesively for nearly thirteen minutes. I know it may not be perfect, but hopefully you guys can see the vision we had and appreciate it. Shouts to the amigos who assisted on the acting tip with various cameos throughout the video: Kevin De Los Santos, Alberto Avacado, Kyle Ellis, and Brandon Wilson. As much as I talk about all the work that went into this project, it was also a lot of fun to shoot. Dondre is a good friend, easy to work with, has a great mindset, and someone whose talents I believe in very much. Please watch the whole thing all the way through, we're only asking for thirteen minutes of your time for something that took us an endless amount of hours to create. Press play and enjoy! "Where's the bakery section of the store?" asks a small group of confused customers who have just walked into the Johnny Cupcakes store on Newbury Street. The employees, more likely than not, have seen this very same situation before and politely reply, "We don't sell cupcakes, it's just a clothing store." This is a classic mistake for people to make about the Johnny Cupcakes brand. When I stumbled upon the company myself a few years ago, I found it hilarious how people do that so often and how mad they get because they're craving cupcakes. I remember how cool I thought the brand was and all of the ideas, designs, values, and people behind it. I continued to follow the brand and have been longing to make the pilgrimage to the Boston store location for years. To hold me over, I waited entirely too long in line one day, although it was worth it, to be at the pop-up shop he held in New York on his suitcase tour and meet Johnny there (click that link to read more about both that day and the brand in general). That was over a year ago though, and this summer it was time to finally make my way over to the main store location in Beantown. The very first day in the city of my baseball and football rivals, I hopped on the T Train and walked down the brick storefront lined Newbury St to reach the place I've seen only in pictures online for so long. I was finally here. It's an awesome store design with terrific attention to detail and just has a great overall atmosphere. I'm definitely glad I got to go. Thank you for creating such a fun and inspiring brand, Johnny. The site LA Life Rehab reached out to me for an interview and I was happy to oblige. While I'm usually the one asking the questions, it's nice to be answering them once again. Enjoy and make sure you read the whole thing to find out more about both myself and Imagination Detonation.
