Despite going to several different concerts, I never really post coverage on here (besides a photo here and there). However, this time is an exception. Around the beginning of the year, I got introduced by Phillip Annand of Award Tour and The Madbury Club (who is certainly a very talented individual as well - although I'll save that for another post) to the work of an artist named Erick Arc Elliot. While listening to what at the time was Erick's new mixtape; I was immediately impressed by his sharp lyricism and honest melodies. After communicating here and there with him via online outlets, I decided to make the little over an hour trek to the stomping grounds of Brooklyn to see Erick jump on a stage and impress the crowd. I got to chop it up with him briefly before and after the performance and he was a down-to-earth and nice guy. You could tell he honestly had a great appreciation for everyone who showed up to support. What really stood out to me, though, was that you could really see his passion on stage. His passion for the music. His passion for the performance. His passion for being able to reach out to people. His passion to be a great artist. A real and genuine passion. I stress this so much because if you don't have a passion for what you're doing and you don't love it..then I highly advise you to re-evaluate the path you're choosing to follow (or even better, the path you're choosing to create and pave). "In this new era, everybody's getting shelved; and it's partly 'cause nobody wants to try to be themselves."
